She’s the man (actually she’s pretty good)

she’s the man

I saw this film the other night with my wife. It wasn’t bad, quite a mellow little comedy, not side splitting but quite pleasant. The female lead Amanda Bynes was actually a very good actress. The film’s idea is ripped off from Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night, but updated and the director does a pretty good job. However it is a low budget movie and has a slight made for TV whiff about it. But I did enjoy it especially the moments when Bynes character forgets she’s supposed to be a man, and when she gets her female friends to pretend to be her girlfriends to ramp up her reputation with her room mates (especially the moment when she pats one of them on the bum, very funny). The only down side is that Bynes twin brother doesn’t look much like her and also Vinnie Jones is in the film, also she’s supposed to be good at football but isn’t. You’ve been warned.
