Based on a true story. The whole film is resolves around the concept that you only fail when you stop trying. It’s a film full of hope, sadness, joy and inspiration for us all and it really lifts your heart. Not unlike What A Wonderful Life, just a bit more sober. It’s the story of a dad trying to make a break for himself and his son ,and struggling without any support from a wife or a family. You get the feeling that circumstances are conspiring against him but even then he remains optimistic and steadfast in his belief that something will either happen to him or he’ll make it happen himself.
Will Smith can be a great actor when he wants to be and this movie proves it beyond all doubt. His real life son is absolutely charming playing his on screen son. There is definitely much more to Will Smith than at first meets the eye, I’ve enjoyed his previous action films but this film is really something special and he deserves an Oscar for it. Overall it was a charming and inspiring film you really must see it.
