Mr Brooks stars Kevin Costner and Demi Moore and is very much a throwback to the 80’s style of suspense movie. Mr Costner talks to his alter ego played (quite well) by William Hurt and fights with his inner conscience about whether to commit another ‘Thumb Print’ killing.
The film is peppered with minor celebrities from various TV programs some of which are far better actors than the two leads. The film also appears to take some inspiration from the fantastic Dexter TV series (based on the books by Jeff Lindsay), but Mr Costner doesn’t have the same charisma as Michael C. Hall who seems to have cornered the market in serial killing this decade. This film feels like its simply going through the motions for the audience and is banking on its two stars to rake in the dough, but they aren’t strong enough actors and the script just isn’t good enough, and the best director in the world couldn’t save this one.
Don’t get me wrong it’ll do OK on DVD, but it’ll never stand a second viewing, which most good films should. Watch it if you must but just don’t expect too much.

I found your site on google blog search and read a few of your other posts. Keep up the good work. Just added your RSS feed to my feed reader. Look forward to reading more from you.
