Based on the best-selling novel by James Siegel (No wonder this film is so well written and scripted). It’s a real edge of your seat thriller, very much like Hitchcocks films in the past, it builds the tension throughout with some terrific plot twists, some obvious and some not so.
Clive Owen’s acting is a little like Poland (completely neutral), Jennifer Aniston turns in a better performance than she usually does (not hard I know), which is nice to see (maybe there’s hope for her yet). But the star of the piece is really Vincent Cassel he plays the villain with gusto and a real sense of streetwise grit, he seams to revel in this role and I was so impressed with his acting I’ll be looking out for him in other roles.
I wasn’t expecting that much from this film but after the first half hour I was well and truly hooked. The film starts off a little slow but it soon makes up for it and you’ll be wondering what else could possibly happen to Clive Owen’s luckless character. And as for the end I won’t spoil it, but you’ll be truly surprised. A good film, made so by the plot, reasonably well acted and directed with a twist in the tail.
